🌿 Hi, I’m Tahirah Simmonds
Founder of Mama Tribe and Mama Tribe Empowered | Educator. Advocate. Mama.
I’ve been in education since 2002—starting as a teacher’s assistant supporting autistic students, then becoming a special education teacher, graduate professor for future educators, nonprofit leader, and early childhood special education consultant. But beyond all the titles, my most meaningful role is being a mama to three beautiful children—one of whom has special abilities.
Mama Tribe Empowered was born from both my personal and professional journey. I created this space for parents raising children with special abilities because I know what it feels like when your child doesn’t fit neatly into the traditional academic setting. I know the weight of navigating the education system, and what it means to advocate fiercely for your child to get the support they deserve.
In fact, my journey into holistic health was born from that very experience. My career as an educator for children with special abilities, combined with my own walk as a parent, led me to seek deeper healing, balance, and resilience, helping me show up stronger, calmer, and more aligned in every part of this work.
Mama Tribe Empowered blends both worlds: education and advocacy, supported by soulful, holistic care.
This space is for the mamas doing all they can for their children—who just need support, clarity, and someone who truly gets it.
